The humerus, glenoid, scapula, acromion, clavicle and surrounding soft tissues make up the shoulder. There are three significant articulations: the sternoclavicular joint, the acromioclavicular joint and the glenohumeral joint. The glenohumeral joint is the most commonly dislocated major joint in the body.

Ligaments and surrounding musculature, including the rotator cuff muscles, contribute to shoulder joint stability. The rotator cuff is composed of the four muscles: supraspinatus, infraspinatus, teres minor and subscapularis that interlock to function as one unit. These muscles help with internal and external rotation of the shoulder and importantly depress the humeral head against the glenoid as the arm is elevated. The tendons join together to form one tendon, the rotator cuff tendon. This passes through the subacromial space. The subacromial bursa, which has a large number of pain sensors, fills the space between the acromion and the rotator cuff tendon. [ 1 ]

An occasional complication of dry skin and itching is secondary bacterial infection. Infections may be mild and resolve spontaneously or may be more severe and necessitate antibiotic treatment. Severe itching leads to repeat scratching of lesions, hence the "itch-scratch- rash -itch" cycle. Because of the persistence of this itch-scratch cycle, the skin may become much thickened in these areas from rubbing. Repeat skin rubbing in the same area may lead to two localized chronic skin conditions called lichen simplex chronicus (LSC) and prurigo nodule.

I have had a rash & pimples on my face since I was a teenager, I am now 34 and am from Africa. I have been using a product called Bio Claire which worked very well the past 10 years but I stopped using it about a month ago because of concerns over an ingredient called BHT in it. I now have an itchy face, with rash around my chin area and over my cheeks and forehead. Sometimes there are small light-coloured patches on my face. My nose and the area around it is free of all blemishes, though it is rather oily. Can you help? I don’t know what to use to cleanse my face or moisturise it or to get rid of the rash.

started getting itchy bumps, thought it was mosquitoes, finally jumped up one night as soon as I felt something, sure enough there it sat the little nasty bed bug, I bagged it up and tore apart the room, found them in curtains, in the bed, all over, emptied the room dried everything on hot hot hot, washed on hot, had an exterminator come in, $1200 later still getting bit. bought a steamer, steamed every crack and crevices, I get bit about once a week, some worse than others. I am now getting rid of the piles of clothes I have in my house, I was told DE doesn’t work independently, trying Cimexa powder now, alcohol, and bed bug spray, I will not be satisfied until I go one whole year without a bite. ggggrrrrrr
